Control Logic

The system uses hysteresis control around your set temperature for stable, quiet operation:

  • Open vents stepwise if interior temperature > setpoint + 0.8°C
  • Close vents if interior temperature < setpoint - 0.8°C
  • Rate limit: Maximum 1 change per 5 seconds for quiet operation
  • Emergency mode: Immediate response if temperature deviation > 2.5°C
  • Wind adaptation: Controller adjusts vent angle based on wind factor

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need an app to control it?

No. The tent has an on-board dial to set your target temperature. The optional phone app provides monitoring and advanced settings, but isn't required for basic operation.

What about wind and weather?

The controller automatically adapts to wind conditions by adjusting vent angles and response timing. The system is designed to work in typical backpacking conditions including light rain and moderate winds up to 25 mph.

Is it loud during the night?

No. Servos move slowly and infrequently in sleep mode. Most adjustments happen during initial setup. Once temperature is stable, the system typically makes only 2-3 minor adjustments per hour, each quieter than turning over in your sleeping bag.

How accurate is temperature control?

The system maintains temperature within ±1°C of your setpoint under normal conditions. Extreme weather (below -10°C or above 30°C ambient) may reduce accuracy but the system continues to optimize for your comfort.
